About Dettifoss
Dettifoss thunders 44 meters down into the Jökulsárgljúfur canyon, hurling up clouds of spray you can feel long before you see the falls. Part of Vatnajökull National Park, its raw power is unforgettable and even featured in the opening of the film Prometheus.
When to visit
Easiest to reach in summer; the access roads are often closed by snow in winter.
